The article studies the role of literary detail as a tool of intertextuality uncovering functions in “open” and “closed” texts, actualizing the aesthetic and psychological potential of literature of the twentieth century. Owing to the details, which help to weave the fabric of the narrative forming the writer's ideology and the work’s genres, it is possible to awake the interpreter to self-reflectivity and creative collaboration
