Female characters in the Donggan literature of Central Asia

The article is devoted to female characters in the works of Ya. Shivazy, A. Arbudu, Ya. Khavazov, Yu. Loma, A. John. We try to explore the development of these images in their cultural and historical background. Female images in the Donggan literature of Central Asia passed through three stages: 1) the silent patience of the women, due to the dual cultural restriction (Islam and Confucianism); 2) transient images of women in the new conditions of the Soviet Union; 3) the wise, independent and modern women as product of urbanization in Soviet times. The dynamic development of these images conveys the evolution of the Donggan women from compliance to self-awakening and autonomic behaviour.
