This article explores the specifics of stage embodiment of female images in Chinese opera during the period of "reform and opening" (1980s - 1990s). Through the analysis of the main female roles in the operas "The Daughter of the Party" (1991) by composer Zhang Zhuoya and "The Steppes" (1995) by Xu Zhanhai and Liu Huye, the inseparable unity of vocal mastery and acting performance is examined. The performing styles of outstanding singers Peng Liyuan and Yao Hong, whose interpretations have become exemplary, are analyzed. Special attention is given to the synthesis of national vocal traditions and European bel canto techniques as a key factor in creating complex, psychologically profound, and multifaceted female characters on the Chinese operatic stage.
