The present paper shows the results of the study of fatty acids and fatty aldehydes in blood lipid profiles in patients with ischemic heart disease and atherosclerosis. A significant relative decrease of the linoleic fatty acid content was found together with an increase in the levels of saturated fatty acids and fatty aldehydes of blood plasma in diseased patients. Data also showed an increase in the levels of palmitic acid, fatty aldehydes, and oxidized phospholipid radicals as well as a decrease in the linoleic acid level in erythrocytes.
