The article deals with the live pictures of the stories «Fandango» and «Adventurer» by A. S. Grin, when an indisctinct verge between the real world and the depicted world creates the effect that makes depicted space go beyond its frames and become included in the main plot of a story. The picture is perceived not only as a work of art, but also as a framed moment of being. There is also an inverted process in the stories: as if the space around the characters picturesquely hardened. A. S. Grin uses the technique of an inverted ekphrasis: not the literary work takes in the space of fine art but the space of fine art (existing only in the space of the story) creates literary space.
