"The life of Klim Samgin": unfinished chronicle of A. M. Gorky

The article is devoted to the last fundamental work of A. M. Gorky historical and epic chronicle “The Life of Klim Samgin”. This book the famous writer estimated as a certain outcome of his life, both creative and human. In the “Life of Klim Samgin” in detail and deeply analyzed are very complex events of Russian life in pre-revolutionary decades. Gorky, while working on his chronicle, used the epic traditions of Homer and L.N. Tolstoy. In the final part, the writer intended to refer in detail to the events of the October Revolution and the Civil War, which he would undoubtedly have been able to recreate in all their grandeur and tragedy.
