This article analyzes the methodological strategies of historical and cultural study of. A comparison of the methods of the logical-historical reconstruction of reality and heuristic potential of existential dialectics. Traced the contribution of Jean-Paul Sartre in the formation of a “carnival” concept of the historical process. Historical events appear as projections of the historic “carnival of subjectivity”. Culture is treated as a symbolic reality, which is formed under the influence of the existential experience of the historical era. The article proposes to consider the traditional interpretations of historical events in the context of the life world of man, from the perspective of the interests and intentions of existing historical entities.
