Migration policy remains the most important area of influence on the demographic situation in Russia. Efficient management of external and internal migrant flows helps overcome staff shortage in a number of regions, stop the depopulation process in certain Russian territories, reduce conflicts between migrants and host communities, and strengthen national security. Russia, with its diverse demographic and economic development of regions, is highly migrant-intensive for external migration and remains attractive for compatriots abroad. But the problem of using the migration potential both in Russia and in many other countries is increasingly focused on the integration capacity of regions and locations. Identity policy plays an important role in the adaptation and integration of external migrants. The article analyzes the author’s life sphere approach to the adaptation and integration of migrants for a comprehensive review of application of the identity policy.
