The materials of the reports presented on November 7, 2023 at the International Scientific Conference “Joseph de Maistre (1753-1821) and Russian thought: on the 270th anniversary of the Savoyard religious thinker”, organized and conducted by the scientific project of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy “Byzantine Cabinet” are published. jointly with the Faculty of French Language of the Moscow State Linguistic University. The conference was attended by leading domestic and foreign researchers of the life and work of J. de Maistre, who highlighted certain aspects of his intellectual biography, philosophical heritage, influence on Russian thought, as well as problems of development and the current state of scientific research devoted to him in all over the world. The thinker, as the ideologically largest figure of European conservatism, who cannot achieve unambiguous assessments, is considered in a pro et contra format. The publication allows us to get a comprehensive understanding of the philosophy of J. de Maistre and indisputably demonstrates the relevance of his ideas and the need to continue their research.
