The evil sorcerer: features of mythologized personality

The article carries out a semantic analysis of characteristics of such a mythologized personality of the Russian society as a sorcerer. The sorcerer’s features are considerably determined by the traditional beliefs, most of the characteristics originate in ideas of the sorcerer’s relation with the other world. Some of the features have an evaluative nature and occur as a reaction to performance of archaic rites, which have completely lost their meaning.
