Malignant mesothelioma of the pleura: potentialities of immunocytochemical techniques

Incidence of malignant mesothelioma demonstrates a considerable rise over the last years. Cytological characteristics of pleural mesothelioma for 65 patients were studied using immunocytochemical techniques. A standard immunocytochemical technique with a set of markers comprising 11 antibodies was used for verification of neoplasia from pleural cavities. Data on the most important tumor-specific immunocytochemical markers for differentiated diagnosis of mesothelioma and adenogenic cancer were presented.
