The article presents an analysis of dynamic pattern in LUTS patients treated with various types of radiation therapy (RT) and alpha-adrenoblockers at different periods of time. In total, eight studies and 1994 patients were analyzed; all patients received treatment for LUTS secondary to RT for prostate cancer. LUTS occurred in patients who underwent external beam RT or brachytherapy followed by acute or chronic radiation injury of epithelial and stromal elements of the bladder and urethra. LUTS evaluation was performed using the scale of assessing the severity of RTOG radiation injury, description of late radiation injury with the scale of SOMA-LENT, common terminology criteria for adverse outcomes CTCAE and IPSS scale. The studies support the hypothesis that LUTS occurrence after radiation therapy is effectively cured by alpha- adrenoblockers. Thus, clinical studies allow us to recommend alpha-adrenoblockers at the earliest period of LUTS occurrence and also as a method of preventing LUTS secondary to RT.
