Due to the natural limitations of carbon dating, dendrochronology is the only scientific method for dating archaeological sites related to the Russian colonization of Siberia and the Far East from the late 16th to the 18th century. Wood samples from 27 sites are dated with such method to date. The article provides an analytical generalization of the results of dendrochronological studies of the architectural objects and archaeological sites from the region, providing a complete list of them and a map of their location in the context of natural and climatic conditions. The author identifies the problems and possibilities of the dendrochronological dating method. Using the example of Ananyino-I archaeological site (Omsk Region), he discusses the problem of reconciling written, archaeological and dendrochronological data for dating a site.
