Aim. The work is studying the impact of physical punishment during childhood on subsequent autoaggressive "spectrum" of respondents. Groups of young males and females who mentioned they had been punished physically as children were analysed. Results. The results of our study clearly show that the respondents of the study group have significantly higher autoagressive potential. 33.96% of respondents in the female study group and 20.75% in the control group reported suicidal ideation. Frequency of depression is characteristic for girls in the study group - 54.72%. Frustration was prevalent in 47.17% of the studied group of girls versus 34.50% in the control group. The males in the study group drew attention with autoaggressive patterns of suicidal thoughts, which were found in 30.23% of the respondents versus 13.68% in the control group. Conclusions. Findings prove the fact that parental physical punishment is a very disturbing issue that often "predmanifests" possible serious problems, especially for females. Even though the fact of physical punishment may sound less serious, it should be used in screening studies, both for suicide prevention work, and for studying psychoemotional states of boys and girls.
