Importance of reproductive hormones in regulation of NK cells

The influence of human chorionic gonadotropin. estriol. kisspeptin. leptin and ghrelin in concentrations corresponding to the I and III trimesters of pregnancy on the functional activity of separated cytokine-primed NK-cells were studied. It was established that the hormones facilitate formation of phenotype and cytokine spectrum characteristic of NK cells regulatory subpopulation and may be considered as inductors and maintenance factors of immune tolerance during pregnancy.
