The article examines the significance of the norms of the Constitution of the RF, generally recognized and international norms, the practice of the Supreme Court and morality for the current criminal legislation of the Russian Federation. The interrelation of criminal legislation with the Constitution of the Russian Federation and norms of international law is analyzed. The features and legal nature of the decisions of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation on specific criminal cases and decisions of normative nature and their impact on law enforcement practice and interpretation of criminal legislation are considered. The influence of moral norms on the establishment of a criminal law prohibition is considered.
