Five experimental procedures (free word association test, restricted word association test, scaling, and two kinds of word meaning definition tasks) were applied in 1993 for revealing word meaning dynamics due to changes in political, economic and social situation in Russia. Data discussed in this paper (part I) will be compared (in part II) with the results of a new set of experiments (2010).
