17 post-postmodernisms: how do new modernity transcendence concepts represent sociocultural dynamics

The article attempts to draw a cross-section of concepts claiming to explain the modern socio-cultural situation and united by the umbrella term “post-postmodernism”. In terms of content, most of these concepts are based on their position to previous modernization stages: transcending modernity options and postmodern crises solving. Therefore it can be considered in the context of theories of socio-cultural dynamics. It is shown that despite the insufficient degree of theoretical elaboration, the representation of some key structural elements of socio-cultural dynamics allows us to determine whether these concepts belong to key sociodynamic paradigms: evolutionism, civilizationism and the synergetic paradigm. The analysis perspective provides additional insight into the heuristic potential and further theoretical viability of these theoretical models to description of the state of the modern socio-cultural system. The most cited of them is metamodernism, which, despite the lack of a well-developed methodological framework, contains neocyclism elements and has the potential to develop an integrative approach to analyzing sociocultural dynamics based on its three key paradigms.
