A. V. Kolchak (1874-1920) in Port Arthur: from polar explorer to combat officer

The article is devoted to the participation of the future Admiral Alexander Vasilyevich Kolchak (1874-1920) in the defense of Port Arthur during the Russian- Japanese War of 1904-1905. The author explores the main sources and analyzes Kolchak’s personal evolution during the defense of Port Arthur, which turned out to be a good combat school for a polar explorer who became a combat naval officer. In conclusion, the following is done that the defense of Port Arthur had a significant impact on Kolchak as a military sailor and military commander.
