Abbreviation in linguistics

This article examines the concept of such terms as "abbreviation" and "abbreviature" from a linguistic point of view. The intensity and complexity of this process cause the relevance of the problem of abbreviation and the need to address it thoroughly. The interest in the specifics of creating abbreviations in different structural languages and in the peculiarities of their use in various types and genres of speech is explained by the fact that abbreviation turns out to be one of the ways of word production which most fully meets the pragmatic attitudes of the present day.
