The article deals with the topical problem of aligning the content of teaching mathematics to visually impaired first-graders and the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of students with disabilities. The paper describes the direction for the content adaptation of teaching mathematics, the features of studying readiness for learning mathematics in the preparatory period, specific techniques for development of visual perception during the formation of mathematical knowledge and skills. The authors make particular reference to the necessity of using specific visual aids when training visually impaired first-graders.
