University adaptation program for foreign students

The problem of foreign students’ adaptation to studying at Russian universities is discussed. Results of the conducted empirical studies of the problem are presented. Development and realization of the Program of adaptation socialization and cross-cultural communication for foreign students is proposed as a possible solution. The technology of working with foreign students focused on inter-ethnic interactions and forming poly- cultural environment for adaptation, socialization of foreigners in the Russian university and creation of tolerance domain for cross-cultural interactions of foreign students is shown. It is concluded that adaptation of foreign students to the learning process and formation of special competences is linked with mastering their future professions promotes successful socialization of students, establishment of secondary language personality implies the development of new qualities, mastering new social and communication roles, understanding new values and traditions and acquiring a new social status
