Adaptive coping strategies in patients with irritable bowel syndrome

The aim of research was to evaluate strategies of coping with stress in patients with irritable bowel syndrome. Methods: In this work, technique of research of coping behavior, developed on the basis of study of psychological stress. Results: Adaptive strategies for coping with stress in behavioral domain of patients with rigid nervous system have constituted 41,6±5,86 % and were realized at the expense of strategies «treatment», «cooperation», «altruism». In patients with labile nervous system, behavioral adaptation was characterized by similar indices. In cognitive domain, level of adaptive strategies is lower, but there was no difference in group of patients with somatopsychic rigidity (30,03±4,61 %) and in group with labile characteristics of somatic and psychological domains. Most frequently, patients of both groups used cognitive coping «problem analysis».
