The article discusses adequacy and equivalence of translation within lingua-cultural translation theory. The lingua-cultural theory of translation takes into consideration not only linguistic but also extralinguistic factors (e.g. socio-cultural factors). It allows and presupposes the existence of several versions of one source text translation
