The hesychasts of athos and their opponents (toward a history of late Byzantine culture)

This article is a republication of a little-available article by Georgiy Aleksandrovich Ostrogorskiy (1902-1976), a distinguished Yugoslav scholar of Russian origin. The article examines some issues of the Byzantine polemics between hesychasts of the Holy Mount Athos and their opponents. The article reflects the level of research on this question at the beginning of the twentieth century and may be useful to historians of both theological and philosophical science.
