African motifs in T. Chatternon's poetry: problem of pre-romantic exoticism

The author of the present paper focuses his attention on the African motifs in the works by T.Chatternon, the famous English XVIII-th century pre-romantic writer. As the research shows, oriental and exotic motifs of pre-romantic writers anticipate the interpretation of the above motifs in romanticism.
