The article deals with issues of forming and developing academic mobility. The author describes the profiles of target audience of alumni based on statistic data; analyses the causes of alumni's preferences of studying in Russia or abroad; analyses the difference between labor marker offer and demand for licentiates. The author presents the main goals of higher professional education in conditions of its globalization and modernization, describes role of academic mobility in frames of competency approach.
