The study reveals issues related to academic mobility as one of the components of the Bologna process and provides concepts, signs and types of academic mobility, historical aspects of its appearance in the Russian Federation. The author raises the question of the problematic aspects of the implementation of academic mobility in our country, the main of which is its funding. Based on the analysis of foreign experience, a single European educational space in particular, and on cofinancing of academic mobility programs, both from national budgets and from interstate programs, as well as private grant programs, the author concludes that such experience can and should be used in our country with adjustments to existing realities, since such experience has positive results. The author substantiates the importance of financial support for academic mobility as one of the ways to increase the competitiveness of domestic higher and postgraduate education.
