Classical music is the basis for the development of accordionists musical taste

The article examines the mutual influence of the educational process and the selection of repertoire in children's music schools for students studying the accordion. The article mentions the specifics of terminology, differences and similarities between the concepts of two definitions: academic and classical. The problems of the repertoire are outlined taking into account the young age of the instrument as well as the relatively recent improvements of its design. The methodological approach is based on the hierarchy of goals in the learning process, the importance of academic music is emphasized in accordance with the established order of priorities in the educational process. The most widespread practical developments related to the selection of repertoire for students of different ages are mentioned.
