The problem of increasing the efficiency of high domestic education due to the optimization of college teacher activity is investigated in the article. Special attention is paid to the teacher's professional evolution as a representative of a humanitarian profession. The necessity of axiological orientation of his continual education is well founded as a key condition to the optimization of the college teacher's professional vital activity.
