The study of the phenomenon of volunteering is of high relevance today since it is necessary to reduce social tension in society. In particular, the values of volunteerism should be examined. The paper presents an axiological approach to reviewing the institutionalization of volunteering in Yakutia. The research discusses the humane values in the philosophical aspect and the value system of volunteers from the psychological perspective. The history of patronage, guardianship, and charity proves the fact that volunteering of Yakutia has originated from tribal assistance while the values of volunteering in this region are associated with the development of gratuitous assistance. The research considers volunteering development stages in Yakutia; such value as mutual assistance provided by volunteers is traced at each stage. The analysis of sociological study findings makes it possible to identify whether mutual assistance based on the spiritual values of the peoples of Yakutia is inherent in modern volunteers.
