The article presents current discussions and trends in understanding the relationship between “consciousness and the brain,” which highlights the importance of the information approach of the Russian scientist D.I. Dubrovsky. Given the growing social and scientific importance of intelligent systems at the beginning of the 21st century, the theories and methodological approaches under consideration are refracted through the prism of information science and the question of the possibility of overcoming the problems of using “artificial intelligence” for a wide range of tasks. Identifying key trends in understanding consciousness, the context of historical and philosophical discussions and the history of the formation of analogy forms of reproduction of natural thinking and functional abilities of the brain is used. But the main focus is on developing the potential of philosophical theories in describing the problem of the “consciousness-brain” relationship after the famous 1994 discussions in the city of Tucan (Arizona) to expand the applied importance of information technology. The content of the article distinguishes the understanding of the terms “natural thinking” and “artificial intelligence”, “consciousness” and “brain” in the context of identifying a common path of development of philosophy and information sciences in the question of the possibilities of creating analogy or fundamentally new information processing mechanisms. In this context, the author tries to present D.I. Dubrovsky’s research as a promising direction for an interdisciplinary format for solving problems of understanding the specifics of natural thinking and the potential for the development of artificial intelligent systems.
