The urgent issues of execution of punishment in the form of community service

The study reveals several unresolved issues related to the execution and appointment of criminal penalties without isolating the convict from the society in the form of community service. All identified problems are legal and take place in the day-to-day activities of probation officers. The challenges of the legislative regulation of punishment executed in the form of community service are reflected in the law enforcement practice. The proposed ways to solve the problems investigated will increase the efficiency of the execution of criminal penalties in the above-mentioned form. The serious challenge is to find organizations and companies where the convicts will perform community services. In the author’s opinion, it is necessary to impose an obligation to find such organizations to the employment agency which has the necessary information on regional companies and the number of jobs available. The research emphasizes that the legislation does not encourage the law-abiding behavior of offenders sentenced to community service. It could have a positive impact on workflow. A new legislative regulation of execution of punishment in the form of community service is proposed.
