Actual problems of sustainable development of rural areas of Krasnodar region (based on sociological research)

The paper discusses the problems of sustainable development of rural areas in modern Russia on the example of rural settlements of the Krasnodar region. The ideas of sustainable development, first expressed in the second half of the XX century in connection with the understanding of global problems of mankind, are considered. The role and key functions of the village as a fundamental subsystem of modern Russian society are outlined. According to the results of a sociological survey, the most pressing problems that hinder the implementation of the ideas of sustainable development of rural areas in the Kuban are identified and analyzed. The views and values of rural residents, farmers and experts on rural problems and ideas of sustainable rural development are studied. It is noted that, according to farmers, despite the adoption and implementation of several program documents aimed at sustainable development of rural areas by the government of the Russian Federation, the situation in rural areas remains difficult. In conclusion, the authors describe the concept of sustainable development of rural settlements, which is presented as a process of interaction of three spheres: social, environmental and economic.
