One of the methods for assessing the state of the population is the use of genetic polymorphic systems of blood groups. The paper analyzes the frequency distribution of B-locus alleles of erythrocyte antigens in the modern population of Kholmogorsky cattle in the Kirov region. It was found that Kholmogorsky cattle farms in the Kirov region have more than 120 variants of b-alleles of erythrocyte antigens. Homozygosity in the study group was 6.3 %, and the number of effective alleles was 15.9. The GYE'Q' alleles characteristic of the Holstein breed are present in 27.1 % of animals, which is 3.9 times higher than in the 80. The Holstein-specific alleles such as BO, GOY, BOB', OA'J'K'O', OA' that are not common in other populations of holmogorsky cattle are also common, and the holmogorsky EAB marker alleles OYI', YA'B'Y', GOTE'F'K', BIYG'G'', GOT, GOTA'E'F'K', GO', YB' are absent in the study group. Cows and heifers of the Kholmogorsky breed of breeding farms in the Kirov region are more closely related to Holstein cattle than to ancestral Kholmogorsky populations.
