The article describes the population decline in rural areas of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The main reason is intra-regional migration (from the countryside to the towns), which is primarily due to the lack of decent employment opportunities in rural areas. At the same time, based on a comparative analysis of statistical data, the authors of the article identify positive trends in the development of Yakutia's rural areas, which is manifested in the progressive growth of the main factors of personal well-being of residents - an increase in the living wage and nominal wages. The efforts of federal and regional authorities to implement specific socio-economic measures aimed at supporting rural areas make it possible to increase labor productivity, the number of jobs and, as a result, to reduce poverty.
