Analysis of the habitus of civic engagement within local self-organization of the population

The paper analyzes the set of values that determine the level of civic engagement in modern Russia. The work provides empirical results of an original research, as well as the results of work of scientists from various regions of Russia within the framework of sociological study of influence of a set of dispositions (habitus) on the level of civil self-organization. The study revealed a low level of mutual trust and responsibility among citizens. These factors not only have a devastating effect on the spiritual and moral atmosphere in the local society, but also pose significant obstacles to the implementation of civic initiatives, which cannot be successfully implemented in a divided environment where each social group and each individual pursue their own corporate and private interests.
