Analysis of the urban environment and identification of the optimal block size using the example of Gatchina

Despite the development of urbanism, modern types and principles of urban development, residential construction continues in Russia. Cities have a heterogeneous structure, multi-scale neighborhoods create a contrasting environment in which people begin to feel uncomfortable. Residential development sets a trend for the irrational use of urban spaces, and at the same time reduces pedestrian activity, permeability and safety. Gatchina is used as an example to analyze existing building typologies and identify the most appropriate block size for a particular city.
