Analysis of the effectiveness of methods of dental support for patients with malignant neoplasms of the oral mucosa

Oral mucositis is one of the most common and serious complications of anticancer treatment, the occurrence and progression of which can negatively affect the overall prognosis of the disease. The search for methods and approaches to prevent and treat oral mucositis is of both clinical and scientific interest on a global scale. This study is devoted to the analysis of the ten-year period of work of the Department of General and Clinical Dentistry named after V.S. Dmitrieva on the basis of FGBU "Russian Scientific Center of Roentgenoradiology" on the dental follow-up of patients with malignant neoplasms of the oral mucosa against the background of antitumor treatment. In the article the program of stomatological support of oncological patients is offered and the data of analysis of its efficiency are given. The program is based on the initial determination of stomatological risk factors for the development of oral mucositis and on this basis one or another stomatological accompanying therapy is prescribed, aimed at prevention and treatment of possible reactions in the mouth of oncological patients against the background of antitumor treatment. According to the obtained results, the clinical indicators of the condition of the oral mucosa, as well as the indicators of the mucosal hemomicrocirculation and the indicators of the quality of life in patients who receive dental support within the framework of this program are higher than in patients who do not receive such dental support.
