Analysis of the experience of integrating modern buildings into the historical context of the central district of St. Petersburg

The article considers positive and negative aspects of the integration of modern buildings in the central district of St. Petersburg. The problems of this phenomenon have been identified and include such aspects as: the problem of heritage conservation with the conflict of interests between different groups and lack of awareness of the current state of historical buildings, the increasing burden on the transport system, which leads to a shortage of parking spaces, and the oversaturation of the center with various functions. The article also considers options for solving some problems using the example of existing projects. Further options for the development of the central district are proposed.
