English textbooks as a means of forming gender balanced communication strategies

The article presents the results of the content analysis of textbooks in the English language in terms of their gender balance. It considers lexical and grammatical aspects, gender of personalities and characters as well as mentioned gender stereotypes. The article introduces the notion of gender balanced communication strategies and their components, and speculates on how modern English language textbooks contribute to formation and development of these strategies among students receiving basic general education.
