The current main strategy of angina treatment is the improvement of its prognosis and patients' quality of life. The aim of the retrospective pharmacoepidemiological study was to analyze the patterns of drug administration and use among patients with angina treated in the hospitals of Volgograd. The World Health Organization ATC/DDD methodology was used to evaluate drug consumption in treatment of stable angina. The method included calculation of the DDD/100 (defined daily dose per 100 beddays) rate showing percentage of patients who daily took 1 DDD during the entire hospital stay. The study revealed high level of compliance of treatments with the current guidelines for stable angina treatment. However, administration and consumption of betablockers with dosage adjustment according to the recommendations should be increased.
