Analysis of the program and literature on the course of algebra

The article is devoted to the problem of providing schools, vocational, secondary special and higher special educational institutions with textbooks and teaching aids that meet modern requirements. There were considered viewpoints of the scientists on the goals, objectives, content and structure of a textbook, at the same time there were analyzed the probems of a modern mathematics textbook. And there were given descriptions of some major functions of a mathematics textbook in the given article. Based on the study, it was concluded that a modern textbook is freed from passive collection of information and becomes an active didactic system that provides self-learning, self-control, self-correction of a student, an effective influence on his spiritual maturity, the growth and development of logical thinking, and the formation of a language culture.
