This article analyzes various tools and methods for activating students' cognitive activity in physics lessons, as well as their practical application. Currently, the educational process requires constant improvement, as there is a change of priorities and social values: scientific and technological progress is increasingly recognized as a means to achieve a level of production that best meets the constantly increasing needs of the person, the development of spiritual wealth of the individual. The reasons for the lack of effectiveness of the modern educational process in the development of students ' cognitive activity are directly or indirectly caused by shortcomings in the organization of the educational process. Purposeful, systematic work is necessary to form active cognitive activity of students.
