Positron emission tomography, combined with computed tomography (PET/CT) is making in the Chelyabinsk regional clinical oncology since January 2011. The study was carried out 374 patients with various cancers. Analysis of the first results has shown that PET/CT is a highly sensitive method to estimate the prevalence of tumor process, which made it possible to 22,3% change stage of the disease and, accordingly, tactics of treatment. The study contributed to the early detection of recurrence of the disease through the local non-uniform increase the level of metabolism of 18F-FDG. The use of combined PET/CT in the chain increased the efficiency of the evaluation of conservative treatment, which in some cases has led to timely correct it.
