Analysis of the state of small business in the Vologda region

The article examines the peculiarities of the impact of small business on the economy of the country and individual regions. The important role of small business is confirmed by the national project “Small and medium-sized entrepreneurship and support for individual entrepreneurial initiative”, which is being implemented until 2024. On the basis of statistical data, the main trends in the development of small business in the Vologda Oblast for 2009-2019 were identified and analyzed, and a comparison was made with the average indicators for the Northwestern Federal District and the Russian Federation. As a result of the study, it was found that there are positive trends in the development of MP in the region, but there is no further growth due to existing problems, such as a drop in real incomes of the population, increased tax control, strict requirements for obtaining financing, etc. It is concluded that for the further development of SMEs and the achievement of the national project targets, it is necessaryto change the state policy adapted for different types of territories, as well as to identify promisingareas to stimulate the development of small enterprises at the regional level.
