Analysis of essential characteristics of phenomenon "competitiveness" in the aspect of preparing a contemporary teacher

This article is devoted to the problem of competitiveness of the teacher. The relevance of this article is due to the global processes taking place in the modern economy and changes in the regulatory and legal framework in the field of education, among them the adoption of a new professional standard for the educator. The transition of the sphere of education to a market system of management made it possible to apply economic characteristics and terms to it, one of which is competitiveness. In this case, the main difficulty is the lack of a unified understanding of the nature and characteristics of the considered key quality, which makes difficult the process of formation, development and evaluation. In the presented work, results of the analysis of phenomenon competitiveness are stated. During the research, existing definitions were divided into groups, depending on the degree of con-cretization of the quality in question. In this paper, much attention was devoted to the study of the essential characteristics of the competitiveness of the individual (including the teacher) and their relationship to the components of other integrative qualities of the individual. The practical value of such research is due to the possibility of increasing the overall level of competitiveness by influencing the qualities of the individual that are determining in the professional activity of the teacher.
