The importance of conducting victimological research is justified by the need to form a factual basis for developing and increasing the effectiveness of measures to combat crime. Conducting an analysis of mass victimity allows a better understanding of crime, identification of the characteristics, nature and trends of criminalization and victimization of the population in a certain territory, as well as reflection of crimes that are not always recorded or registered by law enforcement agencies. Mass victimity is characterized by state, level, structure and dynamics. Victimity indicators reflect the total number of crimes and victims over a certain period of time. The level of victimity allows assessing the degree of danger of becoming a victim of criminal acts. The analysis of the structure of victimity makes it possible to create a portrait of criminals and their victims, to understand what types of crimes are most typical for a given territory. Studying the dynamics of victimity helps to identify the main trends in victimization of the population. The study of victimogenic factors that determine the dynamics of victimity makes it possible to identify the main sources contributing to the growth of victimity and to develop effective strategies to combat crime. As part of this study, an analysis of the indicators of mass victimity of the population of the Chelyabinsk region was carried out in comparison with the Russian average indicators over the past ten years.
