The article deals with the main issues of the epidemiology of ovarian cancer in the Tyumen region, the Russian Federation and the Ural Federal District for the period from 2008 to 2017. The incidence of ovarian cancer was 15.35 in 2008 and 18.52 per 100,000 population in 2017. The proportion of patients having stage III and stage IV was decreased from 21.5% in 2008 to 18.7% in 2017. The five-year absolute survival rate was 60.6% in 2008 and 64.8% in 2017. The one-year mortality rate was decreased from 29.2% in 2008 to 16.3% in 2017. Mortality from ovarian cancer in the Tyumen region was increased from 5.97 in 2008 to 7.6 in 2017. The percentage of morphologically confirmed diagnoses reached 92.1%. The analysis of statistical data indicates an increase in “gross” incidence rates and mortality of ovarian cancer in the Tyumen region in 2017, which may be due to the unfavorable direction of demographic processes in the population due to the “aging” of the population. At the same time, the marked decrease in the proportion of patients with stage III and stage IV malignant tumor, one-year mortality rate and the increase in the five-year absolute survival rate is explained by an increase in the level of oncological alertness of general practitioners, timely detection and adequate treatment of ovarian cancer and a decrease in the frequency of errors in assessing the prevalence of the tumor process.
