Heart anomalies and malformations of Gydan tundra children

The aim of the study was to evaluate the frequency of heart developmental abnormalities and malformations in children of Gydan tundra by means of three dimensional echocardiography. The study included children aged 7-15 years who live in Gydan tundra and during the winter study at "Tazovskya school - boarding" of the Yamalo Nenetsky Autonomous District. There was found a high incidence of heart abnormalities and malformations in comparison with children with connective tissue dysplasia living in the city Omsk. Conclusion: it is necessary to early diagnose and prevent complications of these conditions in children, born and living in an environmentally and socially disadvantaged areas.
